How do we as disabled people fight for a good life for everyone?
The film accompanies politically engaged chronically ill, d/Deaf, neurodivergent, disabled… people, and invites us to join the struggle. Our protagonists resist exclusion in broader society as well as in political movements, and oppose exploitation and repression. Their experiences show that disability can’t be separated from colonialism, capitalism, patriarchy and climate justice.
Our travel takes us to protest sites, climbing actions, street protests, and also to conferences and gatherings. We learn about ideas and praxis to build accessible and caring movements, and to oppose ableism.
Between personal narration, moments of collective resistance and impressive images of nature and actions, a picture forms of people who are making change. We won’t give up, because no-one is free until we are all free.
Lian and Delila have been making films about political movements that they are part of for many years now. Their last film, „Radical Resilience“ (2020), was about burnout and regenerative activism. Through Lian’s chronic illness they discovered how it is to drop out of movements, and how ableism feels. These experiences led to the idea for „Chronically Radical“.
